Ngā Uaratanga o te Kura - Our Values
Our values have undergone an overhaul recently. Say hi to our new values mascots.
What is PB4L?
PB4L stands for Positive Behaviour for Learning. Here at Rhode Street, PB4L is a values based approach towards facilitating effective school-wide culture. We want happy learners. We want safe learners. We want respectful relationships. Through instilling core values and encouraging our tamariki to practise genuine acts and demonstrations of those values, whilst also teaching them to manage emotions, relationships and behaviour towards learning challenges, we hope to achieve a culture that produces this kind of learner: A learner that shows manaakitanga, whanaungatanga and ako.
Manaakitanga is about respect, hospitality and stewardship. Our staff and tamariki endeavour to achieve this through genuine practice of tidy self presentation, respectful communication and a caring concern for our environment.
What does it look like?
Looking after ourselves
Looking after others
Looking after our environment.
Whanaungatanga is about connecting and belonging. Here at Rhode Street School, tamariki are encouraged to explore their whakapapa and culture, their whanau ties and connections to the taiao. Once we know our story, then we can share it, and together we can grow it.
What does it look like?
Sharing my story
Knowing your story
Growing our story
Ako is about sharing and learning. Learning is a life long pursuit. Our tamariki are learners and our teachers are learners. Similarly, we are all teachers at the same time. What better use for knowledge and experience is there if not to teach it?
What does it look like?
I am a learner
I am a teacher
We are growing
